For our first few days in Poland, we decided to stay in a nice hotel, so that we could explore Bydgoszcz, recover from jet lag, and deal with any travel mishaps without needing also to "move in" to an apartment.
Deb did a bit of internet surfing, comparing Bydgoszcz hotels, looking for a nice place near the center of the city. After checking out a handful, the Hotel Bohema stood out ... next to a park, walking distance from the old town, not far from the music academy, and with lots of good reviews.
Little did we know that we were staying at the only 5-star hotel in Bydgoszcz! (Quite a few folks mentioned this to us -- and we noticed that even the road signs directing to Hotel Bohema had five stars on them!)
Indeed, it was an extravagant experience! It's an old building that was renovated 15+ years ago to serve as a hotel ... has the very high ceilings that we've come to recognize as typical for old (i.e., 19th-century) Bydgoszcz buildings, and the owners decorated it to look as though it was from 100+ years ago. The room was spectacular -- beautiful, comfortable ... we felt like royalty!
While at the hotel (for 4 days), we enjoyed the sauna and pool, indulged in massages, ate a fabulous meal at the Weranda Restaurajca, and were spoiled by the incredibly helpful staff!
Great choice for the start of our świetnie viaggi (grand adventures)!!!
Hi Deb and Joe! are you able to see my comments here?
Looks like you two are living large. Please keep up the updates. Are you finding that most people speak english fairly well?
